Changes + Week 11 BBQ!

Hey everyone!

Congratulations to all the new execs who are taking part in next year’s committee! We’ll be updating our contacts page very soon and you’ll begin to know who’s who and how to contact them. The transitioning process begins over the course of this week and soon enough you’ll be seeing our friendly faces helping out with the BBQ and our final Pubcrawl for the year!

We’re incredibly excited about next year and the events we’re going to hold! As well as that, we’d also like to invite you to propose events to us, even if you’re from another faculty or society! Just send us an email to scisoc@sydney.edu.au if you want to collaborate. The more events we have, the more people you meet, the more fun you’ll have!

T-Shirts

Unfortunately, due to general mishap, the shirt manufacturers have sent us only medium sized shirts. If you ordered a small and are really not content with a medium, please let us know and we’ll try and see what we can sort out. Otherwise, e-mail our lovely secretary, or our ever amazingly wonderful president and VP to sort out a time to come and grab your shirt!

Welcome Back!

Hopefully you have all had a wonderful Winter break and are psyched to get in to Semester 2. Or, you may have been like me and dropped a unit because I didn’t want to go to the 8am lecture this morning… Either way, just remember – it will soon be over and we can then spend 4 months frolicking in the sun. Until then, read on for the events SciSoc have in store to help you make it through semester!

Some of these events include:

– LabCoat Pubcrawl

– Fundraising Week

– BuckyBall: A Royal Affair

Good Luck!

The SciSoc Executive for 2011 just wants to take a moment to wish you all the best of luck in your impending exams.

So, best of luck to you all — and we’ll see you back and refreshed in Semester 2!

Stay tuned for exciting information about our semester 2 events:

  • SciSoc Fundraising for the Science outreach program
  • Buckyball!
  • Fortnightly BBQs!

And many more!

Bookstore, T-Shirts and You

Just a quick service announcement —

To those who have sold books through the bookstore, and are thinking “Yo, SciSoc, where’s my money, ‘yo?”

Rest assured, your cheques are coming, but we beg some patience. Unfortunately, our system with all your details is unavailable to us at the moment, and due to general busyness of our executive, we haven’t had the time to get it sorted. Expect contact in the week immediately following exams, and we promise you will get your cheque sent before the start of semester 2. If you haven’t received a cheque and it’s semester 2, contact our Treasurer, and he’ll get all up in that.

That said, now’s the time to start thinking about what textbooks you might want to unload for Semester 2! Keep your eyes peeled for a NEW BOOKSTORE SYSTEM that we’re currently planning to avoid situations like this semester — we’ll let you know what you need to do to buy and sell your old books!
