Want to Design the 2014 SciSoc T-Shirt?

We are happy to announce a friendly contest where the victor’s work will be proudly displayed on the chests of our many members for a whole year! Submit your designs to president@scisoc.org.au by November 30 to have your proposal in the running. Feel free to add suggestions about which colour(s) for shirts you would prefer as well as the design itself! We all know scientists have a creative side too – let’s show it off!

Not only will you have the prize of knowing your design on all of our bodies, but there will also be an actual, tangible, real prize (TBA) for the winner!

Participate in an Online Psychology Study!

You are invited to participate in an online study of students’ academic behaviours, thoughts, and feelings. This study is being conducted by a University of Sydney Psychology PhD student.

This study involves answering a number of questions about yourself and others via an online survey. You will be asked about such things as your behaviours, thoughts, and feelings in relation to your academic work, yourself, and your parents. Completing the online survey should take about 60 minutes.

To read more about the study, and access the survey, click here.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary and if you choose to participate we cannot guarantee that you will receive any benefit from the study. If you choose not to participate, this will not affect your relationship with SciSoc or The University of Sydney.
Please contact Indako Clarke with any questions: icla6215@uni.sydney.edu.au

Represent Science in the Interfaculty 5KM Run!

Next Wednesday marks the end of the Interfaculty Sports competition this year, with the much loved 5km Run! Each faculty gets one point per participant that signs up and finishes the run, thus rendering the points earned throughout the year pretty negligible. Unlike other weeks, the most coordination one needs to participate is sequentially putting one foot in front of the other really quickly and repeating for success. If it helps, during the run, you can imagine yourself chasing the rare-and-also-never-on-time 370 down City Road, or running all the way back home from the bus stop after you realise you’ve left your lab coat on the couch on lab day. In fact, the name of the event is sort of a lie, because it’s perfectly fine to walk the entire course without running ever being involved.

If you would like to participate, simply turn up to the Sydney University Number 1 Oval at 3pm to sign up. All participants will be given sausage sizzle, in case the SciSoc BBQ did not provide enough BBQ goods.
